Jericho

Over the last year I’ve felt God whisper to my spirit so many times, “Don’t give up. Your promised land is right around the corner.” I’ve thought a lot about Joshua and the Israelites. Many days I’ve felt like I’ve been wandering in the wilderness.
I’ve been reading Susie Larson’s Strong in Battle. In Chapter two she says, “God told Joshua what he was about to do. Joshua, trusted God to keep his word and move forward in faith. Read Joshua 6: 15-20 and try to imagine the earth shattering victory. They say the walls of Jericho were about twenty-five feet high and twenty feet thick. Yet look what God did. Some scholars believe that the walls fell inward creating ramps into the city. What if your impossible situation becomes the very thing that provides a way into your promised land? “
Last spring, I had this vision. We, God's people, were standing along this great collapsed wall of ruble. Imagine the Great Wall of China. We were high enough we could see the promised land outstretched before us. It was beautiful. There was a river, the sunlight was streaming through the clouds, it was green and lush, there was wildlife grazing, but when I looked back there was a multitude of people. When I looked closer, I saw familiar faces in the distance, the mom down the street holding the hands of her little girls, my co-workers and neighbors. It was so vivid.
I was brought back to 2 Corinthians 2:15 “For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.” I was also reminded of Esther 4:14, “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
I haven’t been able to escape this. What if our battles, our walls, are a stone in our cairn? What if God’s using it not only for us to draw near to him, but to be a testimony in someone else’s life? God doesn't want us to walk into the promised land alone. He's called us to turn around and grab the hand of the next person climbing their wall and bring them along with us.
Joshua 1: 5-9 "Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them. Be strong and very courageous...do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
